Mellieha is a charming old village perched on a ridge overlooking one of Malta's best beaches.  Dominated by an 18th century Neo-Baroque church and built over a rock church, its steep main street, which winds down to the beach, offers a variety of shops and restaurants. Mellieha Bay is home to Malta's longest stretch of beach.  Across the island lies Golden Bay, which enjoys a secluded location and a large sandy beach framed by rocky cliffs.  Further north, the scenery becomes less inhabited and more tranquil, with nightlife centred on the hotels and resorts.
